Your pages are yours.
Nightpress does not collect your data. There is no account, no server of ours, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. OUTWORLD APPS S.R.L. ("we") never receives your pages, photos, inks, tags, marks or settings. This policy covers the Nightpress apps for iOS and Android and this website.
What stays on your phone
Everything you write, the photos you add, your inks and names, your mark, your Not now rules and your settings are stored on your device only. Pages and photos are encrypted with AES-256-GCM under a key held by your phone's key store (the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore). If you choose a Private PIN, the key is additionally protected by your PIN, so your phone passcode alone cannot open it.
Photos you choose are re-encoded on the device and their location and camera data (EXIF) are removed before they are stored. The app never asks for your location, contacts or camera.
What the encryption protects against: someone copying your phone's storage, operating-system backup copies, and archive files sitting in a cloud folder. What it does not protect against: someone holding your phone while it is unlocked and Nightpress has no lock, a phone that is rooted or jailbroken and running code as the app, or a forensic lab. With the Standard lock, anyone who knows your phone passcode can also open Nightpress; that is what the Private PIN is for.
Backups and moving phones
Archives are encrypted .nightpress files that you save to a folder or place you choose (for example iCloud Drive, Google Drive or a local folder). They are written by the app on your device and are unreadable without your Recovery Card or archive passphrase. We never receive them; your cloud provider stores them under its own terms.
- iPhone: the encrypted diary is included in your iCloud or computer backup, but the key stays on the phone it was made on. Restoring onto a different iPhone shows "Your diary is here but locked" and asks for your Recovery Card.
- Android: the diary is excluded from Google's cloud backup. A phone-to-phone transfer (Android 12 and later) carries the encrypted diary, and the new phone asks for your Recovery Card.
The Recovery Card is shown to you once and is never copied to the clipboard or sent anywhere. If you lose it while in Private mode and forget your PIN, nobody, including us, can open your diary.
Exports and share cards
PDF and ZIP exports are made on your device and handed to your phone's share sheet; they are not encrypted, and the app warns you about that. Share cards contain only your mark, and, if you switch them on, a date or a count of nights. They never contain your words, photos, tags or inks, and they are shared only when you choose.
Reminders
The nightly reminder is scheduled on your device by the operating system. It says "Your page is open." and never shows what you wrote.
Purchases
Nightpress Bindery is sold by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). The store handles payment and your account; we do not receive your payment details. The app asks the store whether this account owns Bindery and remembers the answer on the device. We have no purchase server and do not receive your purchase receipts.
Keyboards
On Android, Nightpress asks the keyboard not to learn from what you type in pages and search (Gboard honours this; some keyboards may not). On iOS, predictive text cannot be turned off by an app; you can turn it off in iOS Settings → General → Keyboard.
Crash reports
Nightpress contains no crash-reporting or analytics code. If you have opted in to share diagnostics with Apple or Google, those companies may make aggregated crash reports available to us under their own terms; they do not include your pages.
This website
This site has no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts and loads nothing from other domains. Our hosting provider (Microsoft Azure) processes technical data such as IP addresses in server logs to deliver and secure the site, and may set a necessary load-balancing cookie (ARRAffinity).
Children
Nightpress is not directed to children and is not part of Apple's Kids Category or Google Play's Families program.
Your rights and contact
Because we hold no personal data from the app, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Deleting the app deletes the diary on that phone; archives you saved elsewhere remain where you put them. If you email support, we use your message only to answer it and keep it no longer than needed. Contact: support@outworldapps.com · OUTWORLD APPS S.R.L., Romania. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If Nightpress's data practices ever change, we will update this page and the app-store privacy declarations before the change ships.
